David Moyes appoints PHILIP NEVILLE as a MANCHESTER UNITED COACH with immediate effect.
Philip, 36, retired from playing football after leaving Everton at
the end of last season. He played for Manchester United from 1995 to
2005 and is currently taking his coaching badges.
Announcing the appointment, manager David Moyes said:
"I
have known and worked with Philip for eight years and, in that time, I
have come to know his dedication, ability to lead and appetite for hard
work. In addition, of course, he understands the club very well and I
think his addition to the coaching staff will be a valuable one."
Philip Neville said:
"When
I retired from football, I knew that I wanted to continue in the game;
it’s something that I have been preparing for over the last few years.
So when David called to give me this opportunity, I couldn’t resist. I
gave my all when I played for Everton but it is no secret that this club
is in my heart. I’ve really enjoyed working with David and his staff
as a player and I think that, together with Ryan, we can make a real
contribution to Manchester United."
Arsenal Set to Complete £23m Transfer of Real Madrid's Gonzalo Higuain
Higuain: Image Courtesy |
Madrid/England: Gonzalo HiguaĆn is on the verge of signing for Arsenal for £23m. The Argentinian striker is hoping to fly to London on Thursday evening to complete the move after Real Madrid gave him permission to formally reach agreement with the London club.
HiguaĆn,
who has been talking to Arsenal for some time, had also received an
offer from Juventus. But the Italians' bid failed to convince Madrid and
they instead signed Carlos Tevez.
HiguaĆn's father and agent, the
former footballer Jorge HiguaĆn, told Fox Sports Latin America that a
final resolution was close. "We managed to get permission from Real
Madrid to negotiate face to face with Arsenal," he said. "Fortunately, I
will soon be able to watch my son play in the Premier League."
HiguaĆn
is expected to sign a three-year deal on £100,000 a week, putting him
among the club's top earners, and Arsenal remain keen to pair him up
front with Wayne Rooney should Manchester United be willing to let him
go.
The 25-year-old was on the verge of leaving Real Madrid last
summer but was persuaded to stay by a combination of JosƩ Mourinho,
team-mates and fans. But, signed by the former president RamĆ³n CalderĆ³n,
he has long felt unsupported at institutional level, despite scoring
107 league goals in 190 games over the last six and a half seasons since
arriving as a 19-year-old. HiguaĆn's competitor for the striker's
position, Karim Benzema, was a personal signing of the president
Florentino PĆ©rez.
Last season Mourinho used both HiguaĆn and Karim
Benzema in the central striking position but rarely seemed entirely
convinced by either man and HiguaĆn tended to start the biggest games on
the bench. He scored 16 in 28 league games but just one in nine
Champions League matches.
HiguaĆn publicly announced his
departure, following the final game of the season against Osasuna. "It
has been seven years at Real Madrid and I need a change," he said. "This
is a decision that I have taken calmly, it is not a snap decision. No
one has gifted me anything: I have always had to fight. I came here for
€12m and they will sell me for a lot more. I want to go where they show
they really want me."
He also said that day: "I know that Juventus want me." But it is Arsenal who will finally get him.

Former AFC Leopards Coach Jan Koops Wants Vacant Gor Mahia Coaching Position
Koops : Image Courtesy |
Former AFC Leopards head coach Jan Koops has expressed interest in taking up the coaching reins at Gor Mahia.
Koops has urged the 12-time KPL champions to give him a chance to replace Croat Zdravko Logarusic who was sacked last week.
Koops has been a regular at Gor matches recently and in an interview
he said he is a professional and sees absolutely no wrong in taking up a
role at his former employers’ arch rivals.
“Gor Mahia is a big club and with the role currently unoccupied why would anyone refuse if approached,” said Koops.
“I am open to taking up the job if asked to despite my history with
AFC Leopards. The two clubs have a big rivalry and, yes, AFC Leopards
was my first club in Kenya but I am a professional. I can handle the
pressure.
“Gor Mahia fans are as well happy when they see me at their matches so their social nature is all special.”
Bobby Ogolla, who served as Logarusic’s assistant is holding the
coach’s role on a stand in basis as the club looks for a permanent
replacement. (Source)

News Just In: Kenya are through to the main cup
quarters at the Rugby World Cup Sevens after edging Samoa 17-12 in a
Pool C decider at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow on Saturday 29 June
2013.
Humphrey Kayange put Kenya ahead,
spotting a gap and scoring close to the posts, Biko Adema missing the
ensuing conversion. Kenya would continue bossing Samoa at the break
down, keeping possession and denying their opponents any breathing
space.
Willy Ambaka would extend Kenya's lead,
racing the length of the field to score at the corner with Adema
converting for a 12-0 lead at half time.
The side would get their foot off the
gas pedal, allowing Samoa to come back courtesy of Lio Lulu's brace of
tries and Alatasi Tupou's sole conversion and it seemed like the match
was slipping away from the Kenyans as they ceded possession and ground.
They would however regroup, eating into
Samoan territory and substitute Mike Wanjala's try at the death earned
them the quarter final ticket by virtue of topping Pool C. Kenya will
know their quarter final opponents at the close of group play later
today. (Kenya Rugby Union).

Moscow, the 31-5 result over Zimbabwe putting them within reach of a

ball, his unconverted try putting Kenya 5-0 up.

Zim territory and Felix Ayange scored his third try of the
tournament,Adema missing the conversion with the scores at 10-0. Willy

Breaking News: Carlos Tevez Completes Move from Manchester City to Juventus
Carlos Tevez: Image Courtesy |
Courtesy of Supersports: Carlos Tevez sealed his move to Juventus on Wednesday after four
controversy-filled years at Manchester City and was handed the
unenviable task of trying to emulate club hero Alessandro Del Piero.
Italian champions Juve announced his arrival with a picture of the
Argentine striker holding up Del Piero's old number 10 jersey alongside
club president Andrea Agnelli.
A statement said he had reached a deal to sign a three-year-contract.
There was no word on the transfer fee but media reports have put it at
€12 million.
"The Argentine is used to winning. He has done so wherever he has been," Juve's website (www.juventus.com) added.
Del Piero spent almost 20 years at Juve, helping them win the 1996
Champions League and sticking by the club when they spent one season in
Serie B in 2006/07 after being demoted for match-fixing.
He left for Australia's Sydney FC last year having broken almost every
Juve record in the book. Michel Platini and Roberto Baggio also famously
wore Juve's number 10 shirt.
Handing Tevez the ex-Italy striker's former shirt is a mark of intent
from Juve, who have won the Serie A twice in a row without a big name
forward but are now targeting renewed European glory.
Coach Antonio Conte has rotated between any two of Sebastian Giovinco,
Alessandro Matri, Mirko Vucinic and Fabio Quagliarella, who have shared
the goals evenly between them.
Matri could now be sacrificed to suitors AC Milan, who had been tracking Tevez.
Earlier Tevez was whisked to Turin after hundreds of fans greeted him amid chaotic scenes at Milan's Malpensa airport.
Television pictures showed Tevez being mobbed by fans before being taken
back into the terminal by Juventus staff and put into a car via a side
entrance.
Manchester United's Ryan Giggs Undecided on Future
Ryan Giggs: Image Courtesy |
Ryan Giggs says he is yet to map out the path that will
follow his eventual retirement from football, but the Manchester United
legend admits he is excited about the next chapter in his career.
Giggs
is currently attending the FIFA Under-20 World Cup in Turkey as part of
the UEFA Pro Licence course and has been widely tipped for success
in either management or coaching following an illustrious playing career
that has yielded 25 major honours and over 1000 matches.
Of
course, the iconic Welshman is far from finished yet and is about to
embark on an unprecedented 24th season at Old Trafford – his first
without mentor Sir Alex Ferguson. But he is self-aware enough to know
the end is near and is already planning for whatever might come next.
“It’s
quite tough, I am sort of an intense person so when I am still playing
and concentrating on that,” Giggs explained during an interview with The
FA's official website. “But also, I have got to start thinking that it
is near the end, I have to start thinking about what I am going to do
afterwards.
“I am in the process of doing that really and
obviously coming on this course has helped me, speaking to other people,
listening to what the coaches or tutors say, and just trying to get
little bits that can help you really. Everyone has their own style and
everyone picks up different things.
“Obviously, I'd be stupid not
to pick up on the stuff I've learnt from Sir Alex. So I don’t know where
I am going to be a coach or a manager, if I decide to go into coaching,
but it is obviously exciting for me.

Carlo Ancelotti moves to Real Madrid as Blanc appointed his PSG successor
(CNN) -- Football's managerial merry-go-round swung
into action Tuesday as both Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain ended
months of speculation by appointing new coaches.
Carlo Ancelotti has left
PSG to take over at Real, while former French national team coach
Laurent Blanc has replaced the Italian in Paris.
Nine-time European
champion Real has been searching for a new coach since Jose Mourinho
moved to Ancelotti's former club Chelsea earlier this month.
Ancelotti has signed a three-year contract at the Bernabeu and will be presented to the media on Wednesday.
Former France captain Blanc's arrival at PSG was announced at almost exactly the same time as Ancelotti's appointment.
"Paris Saint-Germain is
delighted to announce the appointment of Laurent Blanc as coach for the
next two years," read a PSG statement.
"The board of Paris
Saint-Germain has given Laurent Blanc the mission to build on last
season and to continue the club's ascendency towards the summits of the
European game."
Both Ancelotti and Blanc will be tasked with improving their respective club's performance in the European Champions League.
Ancelotti will look to
deliver an historic 10th triumph in Europe's premier club competition
for Real, having won the competition twice as coach of AC Milan.
The 54-year-old also won the European Cup twice with Milan as a player.
Qatar-owned PSG will expect Blanc to mould an expensively-assembled squad into a major European force.
Blanc will have players
such as Sweden striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Brazil captain Thiago
Silva at his disposal at the Parc des Princes.
As a player, Blanc led the France team during the greatest period in its history.
He captained the team to
victory on home soil at the 1998 World Cup, when France beat Brazil 3-0
in the final, before playing a central role in Les Bleus' win over
Italy in the final of Euro 2000.
Blanc has been out of work since stepping down as France coach after Euro 2012.
Nairobi City Stars suspend two Ugandan Players over indiscipline
Kenneth Tumusiime and Company: Image Courtesy |
As Reported by Kawowo Sports: Nairobi City Stars have suspended two Ugandan players, Bruno
Sserunkuma and Kenneth Tumusiime for a period of 720 hours (1 month),
without featuring for the Kawangware-based team over gross
indiscipline.
The duo missed club training for training one week after
the team resumed preparations for their Kenyan Premier League matches,
following the two weeks break they had granted as Kenya played two world
cup 2014 qualifiers against Nigeria and Malawi.
City Stars chairman Peter Jabuya said that the club was forced to
drop the two on disciplinary grounds and pointed out that their conduct
is wanting.
“We released the duo during the international break and they promised
to be back by last week but one week later we have not seen them and
neither had they communicated about their where-bouts. We cannot
tolerate this kind of behavior because it is affecting our plans,” he
said.
Bruno Sserunkuma, a former Kasenyi F.C and Aurum Roses F.C player,
and Kenneth Tumusiime, who once featured for City Lads, Express and
Entebbe Young football cubs are both residents in Entebbe Municipality.
The two, Kawowo Sports asserts were sighted in Entebbe during the said period they went missing at their club.
When Kawowo sports spoke to the
suspended players, they pleaded innocent and never remorseful to club
management. "How can i apologise for no wrong done, i had domestic
problems back home and i communicated to the officials, 30 days is no
big big deal, i will serve them to return a better player", Tumusiime, a
former St Mary's Kitende Student spoke to Kawowo Sports as he was doing gym work in Nairobi.
Having already missed the goalless draw against Ulinzi stars in
Nakuru last weekend, they are set to sit out this weekend's home game
against Mathare United at the team's 5000 sitter Hope center stadium in
Nairobi and the return leg fixture at Nyayo Stadium against the same
opposition a week later.
The stars face a torrid time after their Gambian head coach, Bye
Wadda departed back to his native nation, following the expiry of his
contract. But Jabuya, the club chairman insists the whole house will be
put to order as soon as possible. "We have people willing to take over
from Wadda, and we shall ensure continuity of this great club, he says.
Wadda has been since replaced by Kenyan native, Charles "Korea" Omondi.
He is reportedly said to have commenced official club duties on Monday.
Joel Ssebuliba Kayongo and Jimmy Bageya are the other Ugandans featuring in the same side.
Breaking News: Gor Mahia Sack Coach Logarusic
Logarusic: Image Courtesy |
Nairobi Kenya: Gor Mahia FC coach Zdravko Logarusic has been fired today by the
club’s management. The breaking news comes after a long and unclear wait
for his return from holiday in his native home Croatia.
The Croatian Coach failed to report back as was expected by the club
management when he went for a three weeks international break that
halted the Kenya Premier League to allow Harambee Stars play the 2014
World Cup qualifying matches against Nigeria and Malawi without
interruption.
Assistant coach Bobby Ogolla stood in as the head coach when the
team faced Karuturi Sports over the weekend at Afraha stadium in Nakuru.
According to the club website, Logarusic was sacked via email in a letter signed by club General Secretary George Bwana.
"You have not returned to your coaching duties on the day agreed and
as far as we are concerned, you have deserted. The club has decided to
relieve you of your duties with immediate effect", read part of the
letter.
Bwana appreciated Logarusic’s services and indicated that Bobby
Ogolla will lead the team as the head coach in the league title campaign
and other competitions as well.
“We wish to thank Mr. Logarusic for the services he has so far
rendered to the club and wish him well in his future endeavors. Bobby
Ogolla will continue to steer the team as the search for a long term
coach begins in earnest", added Bwana.
Logarusic was appointed by Gor Mahia as head Coach in March 2012 and
steered the side to the 2012/13 FKF Cup but lost the Tusker Premier
League trophy to Tusker FC on the season’s final day.
Under his reign, Uganda Cranes’

Logarusic-Less Gor Mahia Moves to Third Place On League Table After 2-1 Defeat of Karuturi Sports
Gor Mahia football club seems to have started the second leg of the 2013 Kenyan Premier League on a right foot. The gods of good luck seems to be on their side.
A goal from Rama Salim in first half and another goal, from Edwin Lavasta has given K'ogalo the needed three vital away points and has equally pushed the club to the third spot of the Kenya Premier League Table. Karuturi sports pulled one back in the second half, but it was not enough to dilute the three points already secured by the milk men.
