Kenya Premier League (KPL) have postponed the eagerly awaited league
match between Gor Mahia and Tusker FC that was scheduled for May 30
(Thursday) at Nyayo Stadium.
A statement from KPL confirmed that the match has been pushed to a
date to be communicated later to allow Harambee Stars prepare adequately
for the upcoming World Cup qualifier against Nigeria on June 5.
“Tusker Premier League match number 64 Tusker vs GorMahia at the
Nyayo Stadium, originally scheduled for May 30, has been postponed to a
date to be communicated,” read the statement.
The statement added, “This is due to the national team Harambee Stars preparations for international assignments.”
The
match was initially set to be played earlier in the season but was
postponed due to both teams’ involvement in Caf competitions.
Both
Gor Mahia and Tusker FC have played less matches in the league due to
their involvement in the Confederations Cup and Champions League
respectively and they will be having less time to rest in the June
mid-season if they are to catch up with the rest of the teams.
This
move will now see Harambee Stars coach Adel Amrouche have all the
players in camp as he gears up for the do or die Nigeria tie at the Moi
