Harambee Stars have opened camp in Naivasha ahead of their World cup qualifier match against Nigeria.
The team left Nairobi for the tourist town on Wednesday afternoon.
“We have opted to go to Naivasha to avoid the hustle and bustle that
comes with the busy city. The other reason is the pitch. It is better
here and we want to train here before we face Super Eagles,” said Stars
Coach Adel Amrouche.
“As we speak the team has safely arrived and we look forward to improve the side in the coming days.”
The team had been training at City Stadium for weeks with only
local-based players before a few of the foreign-based including Jamal
Mohammed and Patrick Osiako joined the squad.
The last time Kenya trained out of Nairobi was back in 2010 when they
faced Uganda in an Afcon qualifier that ended in a barren draw.
Mariga Set To Miss Nigerian Match |
The team will miss out on key players in the Eagles clash: Arnold
origi and Dennis Oliech out on suspension, Ayub Timbe who declined the
call up, David Gateri and MacDonald Mariga who are injured.
