Victor Mugubi Wanyama |
As Reported by Super Sport: Harambee Stars stand in captain Victor Wanyama will not feature in Kenya’s World Cup qualifier against Malawi next week.
Wanyama who was Kenya’s best player on the field against Nigeria will
watch from the stands as the team seeks first win in the qualifiers due
to a an injury sustained against Nigeria last Wednesday.
The Celtic defensive midfielder did not train on Saturday evening at
Kasarani as the team held its last session before leaving for Blantyre.
“I can’t tell how long before I can recover, I will have to wait for a scan to know the extent of the injury,” said Wanyama.
However sources told supersport.com that the player will be sidelined.
“Victor Wanyama is currently injured and the coach won’t be risking
him in the match. He picked up the injury during the Nigeria match and
will be left out of Malawi’s to avoid aggravating the situation.”
It remains to be seen who will lead the team out of the tunnel if he
is to be replaced since captain Dennis Oliech is yet to report to camp
and has been stripped of the captaincy by coach Adel Amrouche.
