Nairobi Kenya: Gor Mahia moved to the top of the Kenyan Premier League table
courtesy of a 2-0 win over Chemelil Sugar at Nyayo Stadium on Wednesday
evening.
It was a dream debut for Gor Mahia's newly appointed coach Bobby
Williamson who was incharge in his first game since taking over.
Chemelil begun the game like a house on firing pilling pressure on
Gor's defence from the onset but it was K’Ogalo who took the lead on the
stroke of half time when Rama Salim took advantage of Chemelil's keeper
blunder to head home the first goal.
Gor’s only setback of the half saw defender Christopher Wekesa was pulled out with an injury as Israel Emuge replaced him.
K’Ogalo came back from the break rejuvenated as Paul Kiongera and Salim ran rings in the Chemelil defence.
The hard work paid off handsomely in the 64th minute as Rama Salim
fed Kiongera with a sublime pass and man of the match unleashed a
thunderbolt with his left foot for Gor’s second goal.
In the 78th minute Patrick Oboya made his debut for Gor Mahia coming in for Kiongera who had a superb game.
The win takes Kogalo to the top of the table with 29 points and a game in hand.
