Western Stima Electrocutes Gor Mahia: Final Scores (Western Stima 2 Gor Mahia 1)

Western Stima stopped visiting Gor Mahia 2-1 during Sunday’s Kenya Premier League (KPL) match at Mumias Complex.

It was however, Gor who scored first in the 14th minute when David Owino rose high to head home a decent free-kick laid by Moses Odhiambo.

The hosts were back in the match just two minutes later when Hedmound Mauda beat Jerim Onyango in a goal with a powerful cross that the Gor Mahia custodian could do nothing about other than punch into his own net.

Then Wesley Kemboi ensured Stima went to the break leading after he scored in the 20th minute. He took advantage of a hesitation by Ivan Anguyo to clear a loose ball in his half.

Despite dropping all three points, Gor Mahia showed early intention to go ahead when Dan Sserunkuma’s shot hit the side-netting.

Then Owino, the scorer of Gor’s only goal was denied in the fifth minute being ruled off-side after he had risen to head home from a Moses Odhiambo cross. As the first half came to a close, Kevin Omondi missed by failing to slam home a neat pass from Musa Mohammed.

Determined to get something from the match, Gor rested Joseph Njuguna for Anthony Akumu in a move that ensured more balls got to the front men.

It was from one of this moves that Rama Salim scored in the 55th minute but he too was ruled to have been off-side. Akumu was pulled off from the pitch due to injury and his replacement Moses Otieno hit the bar with his first touch of the ball.

Gor were the more hungrier side as the match neared its end. An 82nd minute free kick by Kevin Omondi hit the cross bar and it was the end of the road for the visitors..Courtesy of Goal.com
